Pet Odor and Stain Removal Services Atlanta
There can be a lot of reasons why there is an unpleasant odor in your home. It could be pet “accidents” or just the dander itself. Either way there is almost always more than meets the eye (or more specifically the nose) when it comes to problematic pet issues in and on your carpets. It is not the most pleasant of topics, but it can’t be swept under the rug. We can help you understand the most effective way to permanently eradicate any pet stains or odor issues in your home.
THINK FAST!
The sooner you remove pet messes from your carpet, the better chance you have of preventing stains and odors. The proteins in urine and fecal matter bind to the fibers in your carpet. The longer they have to bind, the worse the spot can become.
When your pet first pees on your carpet, it combines with the warm, damp environment beneath your carpet, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. It is very important to have your carpets cleaned to avoid creating these ideal conditions for harmful bacteria to thrive.
BE CAREFUL!
Most carpet spot cleaners, even the ones sold by pet stores are soapy. Almost everyone associates soap with clean therefore more soap is CLEANER. When you put soap on carpet and DON’T rinse it out, and it’s usually NOT rinsed out, it leaves a sticky residue that attracts dirt, dust and debris and the spot(s) come back and often times get bigger. Not sure if your spot cleaner is soapy? Shake it up! If you hear it, see it or feel it foam or suds up it’s soapy and will likely cause problems down the road. Use a microfiber towel and white vinegar and water 50/50. Those will get usually most things up if they haven’t dried.
ODOR ISSUES
A lot of pet stores and the like will recommend enzymes to address odor. While they can work, we recommend using a disinfectant of some kind. Disinfectants kill germs, bacteria, viruses and odors. If you can find one with eucalyptus, that’s even better. So AFTER you’ve gotten up what you can of the visual spot. Spray it with disinfectant and let it dry. Most disinfectants state “stay wet for 10 minutes.” Always follow labels on products you buy.
We DO NOT charge extra for odor treatment because Citrus Carpet Cleaning doesn’t think pet owners should be penalized for having four-legged family members. It is also VERY likely the urine is down in the backing, padding (which is very much a sponge) AND the sub floor. So unless you pull the carpet back, replace or treat the backing, padding and sub floor there IS a chance you will smell will return.
Citrus Carpet Cleaning has A LOT of success treating pet urine/odor spots with a product to kill the odor. It is obviously a MUCH less expensive and less evasive option, but it is not always work. But why not try to address it FREE first?
Please call/text us if you’d need to discuss odor issues you’re having.
